The 21 days summer school, which started on September 5, 2005 is ending tomorrow i.e. Sept. 25, 2005 but the last day being Sunday we are having the valedictory function today, the September 24, 2005. A total of 30 participants representing 11 states- Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, West Bengal, Delhi and Andhra Pradesh besides home state of Uttaranchal attended this Summer School. The Universities and Institutes represented by the participants were RAU, Bikaner; GAU, Gujarat; HPKV, Palampur; MPUA&T, Udaipur; KAU, Kerela; TNAU, Tamil Nadu; N.D.U.A. & T., Faizabad; P.A.U., Ludhiana; AAI, Allahabad & G.B.P.U.A.&T. Pantnagar. besides 5 ICAR institutes (CIFRI, Kolkata; IGFRI, Jhansi; IVRI, Izatnagar, Directorate of Maize Research, New Delhi and NRCM, SEWAR Bharatpur).

     A total of 56 sessions were conducted besides 2 field trips (one to Nainital on 18th and Campus visit) Five guest speakers, namely Dr. B.N. Chattopadhyay (ICAR), Dr. Ram Bahal (IARI, New Delhi), Dr. J.K. Doshi, Dr. M.P. Saxena and Dr.R.N. Trikha were invited to deliver sessions on various themes. 3-4 faculty members of Dept. of Computer Engineering, College of Technology, one faculty member from Dept. of Soil Science served as resource persons.

     All the faculty members of Department of Agricultural Communication contributed as resource person for this summer School.

     Topical outline of this Summer School included the following:

  • Technology Transfer.

  • Programme Planning for ICT initiatives.

  • Research and Extension Linkages.

  • Evaluation of TOT programmes.

  • Print media for technology transfer.

  • Radio for technology transfer.

  • Video production.

  • Basics of computer use.

  • Power point presentation.

  • E-mail.

  • Online learning.

  • Web-designing.

  • Video Conferencing.

  • Multimedia production.

     The participants during practical exercise worked in groups and have produced multimedia packages which are being given in a Compact Disc to each on of them. Besides, the participants have also been provided a soft copy of the power point presentation of the various sessions along with a training manual and photocopies of notes of all sessions/ presentations held during the Summer School.
